How do I fix choppy audio recording and monitoring in Logic Pro?

I've had an issue recording in Logic for the better half of a year. Every time I select an audio track and try to record my guitar input or vocals, I get extremely choppy audio that's entirely unusable. I've used Pro Tools and GarageBand to record audio so it's not a hardware issue. The application and my computer are up to date and I've messed around with sound settings but still the same issue. Has anyone else encountered this problem?

"The application and my computer are up to date and I've messed around with sound settings but still the same issue."

Your message says you're running macOS 14.5. The latest version of macOS is Sequoia 15.6.1, as of today, and the latest version of Logic Pro is 11.2.2

I'm not having the problems you're having recording my guitar and/or vocals.

You didn't mention how you're connecting your guitar or vocal microphone. A common issue seen here is when recording from the MacBook's internal microphone and it's set to Voice Isolation rather than Standard. It's set in the orange mic icon in the macOS menu bar top of the screen.

Also, I suggest updating to the latest macOS and the latest Logic Pro and then see if you're having problems.

For over a year my Logic Pro has broken up the signal when I try to record, whether from a mic or guitar input. If I try to tune my electric guitar with the built in tuner, the needle jumps all over the place as if the signal is erratic.

Using the same input for other programs (Audacity is one) that problem does NOT exist. Everything works fine except when trying to record into Logic.

This started before I Loaded version 11, and that did not fixed the issue. I suspect it's something simple, but cannot find a solution. Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks in advance - Michael
