I got second hand MacBook Pro,but iCould list says it's a MacBook Air and MacBook Pro..

Hi,

Title says all, I got second hand MacBook Pro, but iCould list says it's a MacBook Air and MacBook Pro.

bottom case says it's a MacBook Pro.

The top/bold line is the name you can set for the computer, the bottom line is the model as identified by Apple. So you have a MacBook Pro 13" that someone named "MacBook Air" (or the account was transferred from a MacBook Air and the name was not changed; the default name is just the model, but that name travels with the account if you use Migration Assistant). For example:



Note that if I felt like it, I could name my 16" MacBook Pro as "MacBook Air" (or "Lenovo Thinkpad" 😱) and that would show up as the name on that list.


You can change the name given to the device in System Settings > General > About (the highlighted field is editable). It may take a couple of hours for the updated name to propagate to iCloud.
