Apple TV 4K is not connecting with Sony Bravia

I have connected my Apple TV to my new Sony Bravia TV and chosen HDMI1 interface. When I switch to that, Sony cannot find anything attached. I have hard rebooted both the TV and the Apple TV. What next?

if it was me then I would

try another hdmi port
try another cable
test the appletv with another tv to verify it works, and try something hdmi connected with the sony tv to verify it's not somehow the culprit

Is the status light on the Apple TV box glowing continuously? It needs to be, when the Apple TV box is on and has booted successfully.

Which exact model Sony TV is this about? All current Sony TVs have the Bravia moniker, so that isn’t identifying anything. The TV manual may provide some insights to any potential differences between the various HDMI ports.

Have you tried other HDMI ports?
