MacBook Pro 16" M3 Max Screen Horizontal Line Issue. Denied Warranty Despite Known Design Flaw
Hi everyone,
I recently purchased my MacBook from the official Apple Store (after returning one to Amazon, following Apple Support’s advice, to ensure I had full warranty and service coverage). After only about 8 months, I noticed a straight horizontal line in the center of the screen.
I took it to two different Apple service centers, and they refused warranty coverage. They told me it could be caused by pressure or liquid damage. But here’s why this doesn’t make sense to me:
My keyboard once had a small liquid sign near the space bar, but the keyboard still works perfectly fine.
Even if the keyboard had liquid damage, how could that affect the middle of the display?
A straight horizontal line does not resemble liquid damage at all (which would typically appear as drops or stains).
This is not the first time I faced this. I had a MacBook Pro Retina 13" (2024) before, and after about 2 years, the same kind of issue appeared and started affecting my work. When I took it to the Apple Center in Kuala Lumpur, they replaced the screen free of charge, even though my warranty had already expired after one year.
That experience gave me trust that Apple takes responsibility for design/material flaws — but now I feel I’m getting inconsistent treatment.
Has anyone else experienced this? And if Apple service centers deny warranty repair, what are my next options to escalate?
Thanks a lot for your advice.
