IOS 18.6.2 updated caused Carplay to stop working with 2019 GMC Canyon

After upgrading to IOS 18.6.2 Carplay no longer works on my 2019 GMC Canyon. I have tried all troubleshooting (reboot iphone, reboot infotainment system, brand new USB cable, repair phone etc.). There are multiple similar reports on Apple community pages as well.
