Unable to Add AppleCare+ After Passing Diagnostic — Just One Day After Warranty Expired
I’m very frustrated and need clarity.
My iPhone’s 1-year limited warranty expired on August 18th, 2025. The very next day, I was at the Apple Store because my device was lagging. A technician ran both a diagnostic and a cosmetic inspection, and my phone passed with no issues. After a reset, it’s been running perfectly and it looks brand new!
Here’s the problem:
- I was told I should be able to add AppleCare+ as long as my device passed inspection.
- Now Apple Support is telling me I cannot add AppleCare+ because the inspection was done the day after my warranty expired.
- I’ve spoken with multiple advisors. One dismissed me, another was sympathetic but confirmed the system blocks it.
- I asked if returning for another inspection would help — one advisor said it was “up to the store’s discretion,” another said a firm “no.”
Is there truly no way to add AppleCare+ after passing inspection if the warranty expiration was missed by literally one day? Seriously?
My phone is in perfect condition, it passed inspection, and I’m trying to give Apple money for coverage.
Any advice or clarification would be greatly appreciated
