How do I disable the green check mark on the top of my iPhone?

There is a green check on top of my screen and when I tap it, it takes me to Facebook. When I searched the internet, it said the app was using my microphone or camera. I went to settings and disabled camera access to face book. The green check mark is still there. iPhone 16

It looks like you are seeing Live Activities provided by the Facebook app. It alerts you when there is a new message or comment to one of your posts and you can tap on it to open the Facebook app.

To turn it off, go to Settings > Apps > Facebook, and toggle off the Live Activities switch.

You are welcome!

The Live Activities is actually a good feature when used responsibly by apps. For example a sports app could display a the current score of games you are monitoring, or a food delivery app could give updated expected delivery times, or a music app could show you the current playing songs with controls to change the track.

Unfortunately, Facebook uses it in the worst possible way by simply showing a checkmark when there is new information and uses the button as a shortcut to access their app. In my opinion that is a poor use of the feature and you did the correct thing by removing it on the Facebook app.
