Trackpad text drag-to-select stopped working after macOS Sequoia 15.6 update

I have a MacBook Pro 15" laptop serial C02*********. Select and drag for copy/paste stopped working about 3 weeks ago. It fails with all apps (text edit, ms word, etc). Tried rebooting and clearing pboard and no success. Installed Sequoia 15.6.1 (from Sequoia 15.6) and it still fails.

I can click on a section of text and hit the delete key to delete a character at a time or insert extra characters, but I cannot select a block of text to copy it.

Help! Frustrated!

"Doesn't work" is not very specific. Please explain exactly what happens when you try to select by dragging.

Try restarting in Safe Mode. Same problem?

Try going to System Settings->Trackpad and turning OFF "Force Click and haptic feedback". Any changes?

Just in case there is some physical issue with your trackpad, try attaching a different mouse or trackpad. Does it work?

Doesnt work - meaning doesnt highlite the text that I try to seletc.

Tried it in safe mode, but the same thing happens.

Turn of Force click and haptic feedback and that did not help.

Dont have a mouse.
