Right AirPod 2nd gen drains quickly then shows full charge

Hi everyone,

I have a weird issue with my 2nd generation AirPods. Sometimes (not always), my right AirPod suddenly drains within just a few minutes, even though the left one is fine. When I put it back in the charging case, after a couple of minutes it shows as fully charged again. But once I start using it, it dies again after only a short time.

This doesn’t happen every time, which makes me think the battery itself isn’t completely dead (otherwise it would happen consistently).

Has anyone else experienced this with their AirPods? If so, did you find a fix (cleaning, resetting, recalibrating, etc.) or is this more likely a hardware issue?

Thanks in advance for any help!

Give this a try:   How to reset your AirPods and AirPods Pro - Apple Support.

If that doesn't help I'd make an appointment at the nearest  Apple Genius Bar to have Apple test them.

I had the same problem with AirPods Pro Gen 2 in that the right earpod would not make contact with the case many times. I took them in to Apple and they first replaced both AirPods. When it still wouldn't change correctly I took them back and they replaced the case. After that all is well and it works like a charm.
