How to fix Capital One verification issues on Apple Pay for Mac?

If you are having trouble putting your Capital One Card on Apple Pay and getting a CANY VERIFY response, it is because you do not have the Capital One App on your MAC (and it is not available for your MAC).

SO: You can never get your Cap One Card on APPLE PAY on your Mac until either:

1) Apple allows the Capital One App on the MAC or

2) Capital One changes its verification method.

OK; so the LOSER here is CAPITAL ONE. I put two other cards on with no issue and will use them for purchases instead of Capital One.

OR--I will just about APPLE PAY all together!

Since Capitol One has complete control over both points, it has nothing to do with Apple. You can blame who you want or not even use Apple Pay because of it, but that is your choice. It is clear that Capitol One expects it's customers to have an iPhone for Tap to Pay and offers many instructions for adding the card to the Wallet app on the iPhone for use with Apple Pay. It's their card, and their requirements.

1) Capitol One must submit an App first before you will see it in the App Store. Apple does not even require a bank to have an app for verification, that is entirely the choice of Capitol One. Not sure where you are getting the idea that it is because Apple does not "allow" the app. It is not difficult at all to submit apps for approval in the App Store.

2) Capitol One could certainly change it's verification method to match that of other banks, but that is not up to Apple either. It is the bank that approves/denies a card that is added to the Wallet. Apple does not do that.

It's entirely up to Capital One to provide an app for the Mac. Apple does not restrict the option unless the app somehow violates there terms of service and since the App is available on iPhone, it can be assume it does not violate any terms.

Capital One is therefore entirely responsible for making the app available on the Mac.

Tell Capital One to make their App available on the Mac, or change their verification process.

Apple does not make their apps compatible with anything else. Apple makes the Wallet App, and the banks and card issuers need to make sure they can work with it. Apple simply cannot go around verifying it works with the thousands upon thousands of banking and credit card apps around the world. It's simply not possible.

if not, I will just NOT use APPLE PAY!.

You are free to not use Apple Pay if it is this inconvenient. We are not Apple, just users like your self, and have no vested interest in you using Apple Pay. Threats don't work here at all.

Apple has to assume some responsibility if it wants WALLET to be used--it aint the only game in town and is more a convenience to receivers to payment than to me.

What responsibility? Apple can't force Capital One to make their app available for Mac or change their verification process. And Apple simply cannot go around verifying the process for every single bank and credit card provider out there, it's simply not feasible as the amount of people it would take to do that is impossibly impractical.

Also, why is it, it works with a ton of other issuers just fine all around the world? I can add my cards to my Mac without issue. My bank and card issuer have no issues with Apple's process. Why does Capital One require special and additional support that other's don't?

Again, it's entirely up to Capital One to make it possible to add the card on the Mac. Apple has no way of getting involved here.

What card from C1 is it?

If C1 requires an app, Apple can’t design and issue an app for them. C1 has enhanced security requirements, which is fine with Apple and Apple Pay. But C1 has to support their enhanced security, including the necessary app. The issue is not Apple, but C1 requiring an app, yet not making an app the supports Mac OS.

I can confirm that adding the C1 Quicksilver card to the Mac doesn't seem to work. The only verification method is to call C1 where you get a recording that says confirm using the mobile app. C1 has seriously messed up here. If there is a way to confirm the addition of the card to the Mac using the mobile app on the iPhone, I couldn't find it.

I was able to add my card to Wallet on my iPhone and it did require the mobile app. It will verify by either NFC or a verification code sent to the mobile number. The NFC took two tries. But that might have been user error.

I have a feeling that I added the card several years ago before C1 switched to requiring additional verification using their mobile app. The card expires this fall and I now suspect that they may remove the card. However, the Apple Pay tokens have different expiration dates than the physical or virtual cards and it may continue to function for a few more years.

Use whatever works best for you. No one here has any vested interest in what you choose.

You are aware that Capitol One was recently caught paying lower interest rates on savings that the published information, and charging more on credit debt then published, and generally, Capital One has a poor reputation in the banking world.

I think that's the one I just got a notice that if I don't use it by December, it will be cancelled. Guess I don't use it very often.
