MacBook Pro M1 (2021) constantly cycles through 'plugged in' and 'charging' states
Hello everyone!
I've been having some recent issues with my MacBook Pro (14", 2021 M1)'s battery where it constantly cycles through the "plugged in" and "charging" state continuously. This issue has started about, 2 weeks ago, and this plugged in/charging thing can go anywhere from >10 minutes, to <1 minute. Often, the MacBook just doesn't charge and gets stuck on a battery percentage because the laptop just cannot charge. After a few minutes of this, then it starts charging normally.
Things worth noting:
- I just replaced this battery last week, I took it to the Genius bar, where I got told it just a degraded battery, but this doesn't appear to be the case anymore. <Working with fresh battery now>.
- I am using the Belkin BoostCharge 240 W USB–C to USB–C cable (2 m). New cable, bought about 2-3 weeks ago. Same issue persists when I use the 1 m 240 W cable, which is more than a year old.
- Same issue occurs on different power outlets, in different locations.
- Similarly, I bought a new brick (140 W) last week and the same issue is occurring.
- At home, diagnostics doesn't work: I get PPP007 issue (due to obvious faults with the power cable).
- Didn't seem to have any issues at the Genius bar, though it's hard to gauge if that's just because the battery was reasonably charged when I brought it in, or if the Belkin cable is just not working.
- My iPhone 11 and AirPods 4 charge off my laptop without issue. No errors or jumping around with the charging there.
Thank you all for your help!
