I purchased on September 1 an apple series 10 watch, GPS and cellular enabled. The Apple website indicated that steps were tracked. Upon receiving the watch, I learned that steps are only available on the app and that a separate steps or pedometer app needs to be purchased if steps are to be seen on the face. I purchased said app and then received a message on the face of the new watch that complications were, in fact, not available for this particular model.

I believe that saying steps are tracked but not having steps visible on the face means at a minimum that the description on the website is misleading

I think suggesting that I buy another watch – while logical – is certainly impractical given that I just purchased one

While I am sure that this does work on certain Apple faces it does not work on mine

I think that how people wish to track their fitness is a personal decision; commentary on the value of that particular metric is going to be most valuable if coming from my personal physician

I appreciate the responses offered in the spirit in which they are offered.

I have accepted that this watch will not do all that I hoped that it would functionally do

Not the first time Apple have been over optimistic in their advertising.

You can notch up steps by typing or knitting which is why I say it is a legacy metric inherited from waist mounted pedometers. The move calories, exercise minutes and heart history are far more important.

If you insist, there are apps available as IdrisSeabright pointed out.
