Network with Eero, switch, and ethernet cable

We just upgraded to fiber optic and Eero mesh network. I plugged the extra ethernet port on the Eero into our pre-existing switch for our wired in home network. From the switch is an ethernet cable to the iMac. The iMac can access the new WiFi, however, for the ethernet connection there is the "self-assigned IP" message and hence not connectivity. I have done the troubleshooting from previous posts to no avail. Any other ideas? The switch is ~5 year old and other devices connected through it are working including Apple TV.

There is no particular mystery to it, and it seems as though you're doing things correctly.

Most likely, the Ethernet cable (to encompass its terminations, ports, or a port on that switch in addition to the cable itself) is defective. An industrial Ethernet diagnostic tool is valuable in quickly tracking down faults.
