Desktop icon shortcut missing on macOS 15.3

Just upgraded to an Apple Studio from my 2018 iMac. I'm on day 2 of setting it up and I just realized I don't see the Desktop icon shortcut under Favorites on the left margin. I go to find settings and yep, it's not there. I only see it under iCloud. What happened and how can I get it back?

To enable the Desktop shortcut on the Finder's side bar, open the Finder Menu, go to Settings ➜ SideBar and make sure Desktop is checked.

If you have enabled Desktop and Document for iCloud Drive, then iCloud will show a Desktop folder yes for other Macs logged in with your Apple Account that have the same option turned on.

As far as the Screenshots go, press the command+shift+5 keys on your keyboard to bring up the Screenshot tool menu, and make sure the screenshots are set to save to the Desktop from the Options menu, and not somewhere else.

I believe the default is Preview now.

if you use third-party sync software like: OneDrive, GoogleDrive, BackBlaze or DropBox the all have app settings that can usurp screenshot if that is an added issue.

SOLVED! It was a series of unfortunate events. I haven't migrated since my last iMac in 2018. So when I migrated a couple of days ago I ended up with my old iMac admin showing up in my new Apple Studio. This lead to my system data having 350GB of 512GB taken. I call Apple tech, they shared my screen, he walked me through the tangled mess; bing-bang-bong and Bob's you uncle! Cleared up the HD space issues which allowed me to uncheck Desktop&Documents for the iCloud, which allowed the Desktop icon to show up again, which got my screenshots to show up on the desktop as usual. Whew!
