Red Apple Workflow installer not updated for FCP 11.1 - does not work?

I have footage for a short film shot on a Red Dragon. I tried to import using the Red Apple Workflow installer but it wouldn't import - "missing plug-in". Tried multiple times and finally called Red Support.

They said that they are working on an update for FCP 11.1 but it's not ready yet.

As I see it, I have 3 options:

1. Try to go back to FCP 10.7 - (which I know works) But how to do that and not affect everything else on my laptop and is it even possible?
2. Transcode the 6K footage to Pro Res Proxy to work on and then export with the original footage (but wouldn't it still be in Pro Res?)
3. Learn a new NLE platform and go to Davinci Resolve.

Anyone have any suggestions or have encountered this problem yourself?
