MacBook Air kink in power cord

The power cord on my MacBook Air 2022 has a kink it and the wires are now a bit exposed. It still works but my experience with this type of cord is that eventually the kink will cause the wires to break. My laptop does not travel. I occasionally put it away in a computer bag. The cord is what I believe is called a braided cord & I have encountered this problem before with similar power cords for other devices. I have Apple Care+ but don't want to spend $58 to replace what is an inferior cord. Has anyone else had this problem?

If yours is the MacBook Air M2:

Exposed wire is a fire hazard! Replace the cable immediately.

I agree. The point is your cord with wires exposed should be replaced immediately.

I checked and the "something else" is a variety of power adapters. It wouldn't be a bad idea to have a spare or two. They are genuine Apple and MacSales is a reputable vendor.
