for some reason on my mac the profile icons on messages does not transfer properly between my phone and my mac

whenever i update a profile icon, by changing the image, or the name or just updating the contact of anyone on my phone their profile icon and sometimes their information disapears from my mac completely and indefinetly leaving me with the following images. it looks normal on my phone but then on my mac, it erases cotact images, or uses outdated names, or it just gives me the default for no icon image selected, sometimes it even gives me a blank nothing as if there was nothing selected. how do i fix this
