that's done...but I still have to type in my password every time I open up the laptop (that never leaves my kitchen table). It's just not necessary to have a password. I don't think it can be deleted. I hope I'm wrong. Thanks for replying.
You could try changing System Settings > Lock Screen > Require password after screen saver begins or display is turned off to Never.
Be sure to keep track of your password.
There are times when you may need it – such as when installing applications, or making certain settings changes that require you to prove that you have the right to do so.
go into System Settings > Users & Groups and set "Automatically log in as" to the account that you want to login to.
