Airport Time Capsule is not recommended anymore in the future with newest MacOS version?

I got this popup when I backed up my MacBook Pro with Time Machine on Airport Time Capsule (last generation, 3 TB), on August 1st, 2025. It surprised me because I already use this disk for more than 10 years and all just fine.

Actually I am waiting for any new model for this backup machine system, but we knew, its production already discontinued since April 2018.

I like to upgrade my devices, for reasonable matter, but I never through away my old devices though I prefer to use my new ones for daily base working. And then came the question: "What could be happen next with Time Machine disk systems (local backup)?" For economic reasons it's not sustainable to use Cloud backup for the whole live, because after pension automatically live just not as same as before.

The answer is fairly simple, but you're not going to like it. Apple, as you know, has gotten out of the network hardware business back in 2018. The chances of them re-entering it or coming out with new "updated" Time Capsules (TC) is extremely unlikely.

As Bob has mentioned, the warning you are seeing is that the upcoming release of macOS Tahoe will no longer support communicating with the TC. Therefore, you will no longer be able to run Time Machine backups to it going forward.

Apple's business model, when it comes to macOS, is that they will continue to support updates to the last three versions, now Sequoia, Sonoma, & Ventura. When Tahoe is released this Fall, Ventura will be dropped for support.

What does that mean? If you have a Mac capable of running any of these three operating systems, you should still be able to use your TC for Time Machine backups. If you opt to upgrade to Tahoe, then you will need to "retire" your TC and find another alternative. Two would be: an external drive or a NAS device.
