Messaging services roaming data consumption

I’m travelling outside my country and had 2,5 gb of roaming data. I received notification from carrier 2h after landing that i consumed all the data, 0 left. I checked my consumption to find out that messaging services used it all. I need data in roaming, applied for a eSim data plan. 2 gb data was over in less than 2h. Once again, messaging services used 1.99 gb out of it. Can somebody give me a fix for this? Is only my first vacation day, still have a week to go and cannot pay extra plans for out of my control consumption.

All 2 of them, text only. This is something new. This year only I was abroad several weeks, never happened before with one exception. In spring I was in Austria, and all roaming data disappeared in less than a day. Since I was leaving the next morning, I didn’t pay attention. Now I’m in Austria again and it seems like doesn’t like the air. 🤷🏻‍♂️. Maybe the roaming carrier, maybe some national thing here, donno. I test now different scenarios like switching on and off things to try to catch the thief. I got another GB of data, wish me luck

I managed to find the solution. After I disabled “Find my”, messaging services didn’t consumed 1 byte more. This is odd because I had the find my enabled since forever. I can still have it on and limit the data consumption on wireless only. This workaround partially fails the purpose of find my overall. Donno why this is happening maybe Apple support can came with a fix.

Chill man, I’m sharing my experience here. I was looking for a solution to use my roaming data and not waste it on services out of my control. From my point of view, this was the solution. I’m sharing find my data with my family. 3 iPhones, 1 MacBook, 1 iPad, 1 AirPod. Except mac, all devices are travelling with me. So not lots of people, that’s why the data consumption for this service is not justified. I use this phone for several years now, traveled a lot without issues.

First, if that’s true, it means that all the other devices will have the same consumption, and this is not the case. My daughter have lots of devices in find my, like all her high school colleagues iphones and other devices, and a couple of airtags . Second, how come every time other devices sends/receive messages will consume my data? So you’re saying that if my daughter chats on her phone will consume my data. That’s nonsense!
