Accessing iPhoto when uploading to an external site

For the past few years I’ve not been able to upload photos by going directly into the iPhoto library and find the album I needed. The hack I now use, and don’t like but have no other solution, has been to find the photo(s) I want and place them on the desktop. It works, but adds a step. I know others have asked about this, any chance there is a real solution now? I can still do this on my phone, but I work mostly on my laptop.

I'm not sure what you are trying to do. What do you mean by"able to upload Photos" -- from where to where, exactly?

Oh, I should look at your title! You mean in Safari you want to choose a picture from Photos to send to a web site--is that right Then I see-- the Photos picker doesn't allow you to navigate through albums and folders--something that's been crazy since Ventura, I think. It's a pain!

Selecting pictures and exporting them to the desktop is a method we suggest, because it gives you lots of control over the size and metadata of the transferred picture. So that's a good choice.

Another method is to use the search field:

I had an album named "25 07 07 Zoofari," and I copied that and pasted it into the search filed, so I got pictures from that album. I could also have just typed "Zoofari," but I would have gotten pictures from several trips.

You can also search for keywords. You can do the search in Photos and add a temporary keyword (like Safari?) to them, and do the search for the that.

I've done all those at one time or another…

You wrote: "Still an extra step, but easier than having a bunch of photos all over my desktop!"

When I am exporting photos from Photos for uploading somewhere, I export them to a folder folder on the Desktop named "upload" or similar. There they are easy to fiind and do not clutter up the Desktop. And I can delete them summarily, when I am done.

Apple has remove the easy browsing thru Photos albums (not iPhoto) when trying to upload to a website.

What I've done is use a unique keyword to apply to those photos I want to upload and then do a search for the keyword in the browser ➙ Media ➙ Photos Library window:

The remove the keyword from the photos.

It takes an extra step (adding a keyword) but it gets around the lack of visual searching for albums and their photos therein.
