How can I transform all my photos in high efficiency to jpg

I save my iphone photos on a HP laptop with Microsoft software. My camerasettings are set to "most compatible". But Apple still changed all photo's in my camera (1000+) to high efficiency format. My laptop cannot open these.

I looked for an app in de Apple store that will transfer all 1000 photo's in bulk back to .jpg. But with the apps I found I must transfer each photo. So one by one. And that for 1000+ photo's. Who knows an app that will do this in bulk?

iPhone SE, iOS 18

The conversion will be easier on your Laptop. Check the Microsoft App Store. Frankly, HEIC is better, and Microsoft offers an app that allows Windows to take advantage of the more modern format. Of course, they charge for it.

I have heard that there are good, free apps out there for Windows that will do the conversion.

Set to "Automatic," Photos exports pictures in a format that it appears the receiving computer can handle. It will export in jpg for Windows 10, but heic for Windows 11. You can also set Settings>Apps>Photos>Transfer to "Keep Originals," and, if you have Camera set to Most Compatible, that should export jpgs.

Of course, any pictures made in heic before you change to Most Compatible will transfer as heic.

And keep in mind that, since I have a Mac, I don't have any real experience with this Windows thing, so let us know what you find…
