New Mac Air M4 Battery Draining Very quickly

I wanted to check if anyone else has run into this issue with the new MacBook Air M4.

I got mine in June (technically bought for someone else, but we ended up swapping since they didn’t need it). It basically sat unused from June until about two weeks ago. I’ve always heard amazing things about Mac battery life, and even the person who we got the computer for originally said it was incredible.

When I set it up, I did a full factory reset. Since then, though, the battery has been underwhelming. I know indexing and setup tasks can drain more at first, but it’s been two weeks and the drain still feels high. For example, just streaming Netflix for about 3 hours (brightness around 20%, no other apps running) eats up 40–60% of the battery, which feels way worse than what others report.

Has anyone else noticed this with their M4 Air? Could mine be defective, or is there something I should do to improve it?
