I'm assuming you are referring to the on-screen keyboard? Do you have a Bluetooth keyboard you could try to pair and see if the problem still occurs? If you've already tried restarting the iPad, the next step would be to back up the iPad, then go to Settings > General > Transfer or Reset > Reset > Reset All Settings. This may fix the issue but will also reset your Home Screen layout, network settings. etc. If that does not help, then the last step to eliminate the possibility of a software cause would be to restore it to factory settings which also will reinstall iPadOS. See Restore your iPhone, iPad, or iPod to factory settings using a computer - Apple Support. If no help, then you can restore from the backup you previously made to get your data back.
It also could be a hardware issue, but I think that's less likely if it only happens on the keyboard. You'd probably notice this on other screens as well, i.e. if you select an app icon from the Home Screen, it opens a different app. If you suspect a hardware issue, though, you can visit the Genius Bar at an Apple Store or call/chat Apple Support. If it's only 10 months old it should still be covered under the limited warranty. Or if you're worried about issues in the future, you still have time to add AppleCare as well since it's less than a year old.
