grayed smart mailboxes (out of place)

I have created several smart mailboxes that I have placed outside the Smart Mailboxes Group. The gear is gray and the titles (also gray) cannot be selected, opened edited or moved for that matter. I now have these 13 such mailboxes grouped in my Favorites group. Is this fixable?
