Unable to edit Live Photos transferred from iPhone to MacBook via USB pendrive

I can only see "Turn on Live Photo" option greyed, not able to edit photos in this mode while they were taken on iPhone in Live Photo mode and can be edited on iPhone as such.

Live Photos transfer just fine as long as you stay within the Photos environment. If you use iCloud Photos or AirDrop, for instance, the Live Photos go from Photos on a phone to Photos on the Mac, and they're just fine. If you are unable to do it, then you should work on correcting that. What do you think that you're doing wrong?

But for nearly 1 TB data it makes me really mad… to pay next hundreds $ for iCloud space

You must be falling for some scam is you're asked to pay hundreds of dollars for 1 TB. Apple doesn't offer a 1 TB plan, so this must be another company. You should look at the Apple site to see what's real.

This is terrible disappointment after a try to switch from Win systems.

I'm sorry. But I think if you spend as much time looking at how it works rather than ranting about how you don't know how it works, you could learn how it works.

You haven't even told us how you're attempting to transfer these pictures. Apparently it's not the right way. It's like you don't really want to know. If you can ask questions in a friendly and respectful way, without all the extraneous comments, then maybe we can help.

Thank you for response.

I'm much glad with iPhone and its camera but I can see its cooperation with MacBook is terrible, I bought M3 pro version with main purpose to "co-operate" with Iphone on photos editions as it's much inconvenient to edit on iPhone without mouse etc.

However I'm unable to transfer photos correctly by any mean and not only Livephotos but even simple JPGs copied from iPhone are unrecognized by MacBook Library, I guess the only way is to subscribe iCloud? But for nearly 1 TB data it makes me really mad after spending quite a lot for apple stuff to pay next hundreds $ for iCloud space as it seems iPhone will not cooperate with MacBook on normal photos edition by any other mean like USB transfer.

Live photos are a combination of a 2 second movie and a still photo. Both have the same file name but different extensions, .mov and .jpeg. If you include both the movie and photo file in a folder and import that folder the resulting import will be considered a "Live Photo".

You can import multiple Live Photo pairs as long as they are in the same folder when imported.

Did you move both types of files to the pen drive? What format was the pen drive. If it was a Windows format try reformatting it as APFS or OS X Extended (journaled). Then transfer again putting the pairs of files in a folder on the pen drive. Then import the folder.
