*Apple Carplay wont allow me to use the Keyboard. This puts me in jeopardy of having my license suspended due to having to hold the device to be able to select options or enter extensions. Is there any way of accessing the keyboard?

Wrong! Apple CarPlay is for Handsfree use where any provided app prevents you from holding your iPhone. That is the only way a CarPlay app can be approved is if it does not require you to look at your phone. You should not be holding your phone and using your keyboard while driving, period! I certainly would not be on the road with you while you were doing that. You are putting yourself in jeopardy and every one else.

I’d expect that use of a keyboard while driving is headed for trouble anyway, whether legally, or due to operator inattention and wrecks and related mayhem. The former meant to reduce the latter, obviously.

Coincidentally, there is a video of somebody texting and driving and wrecking getting posted all over the network today, too.

Use voice controls and Siri where available, or pull over and stop safely and then use the keyboard.

Thanks for all the unhelpful comments. I am against texting and driving. I don't do it. What I was meaning to say didn't come out correctly. Apple CarPlay, I believe, is intended to provide a different route than people having their phones in their hands. I want to know why there is no way to voice or type on the display when attempting a phone call that needs actions such as making a choice or entering an extension. If there is, that's what I would like to know. Please reserve any negative comments. Only asking a question and looking for an answer. Thank you.
