Can't add a link to a photo in an email

I have tried following the instructions that I found in this community about adding a clickable link to a photo in an email, but it either sends the photo or the link, but not both together.

This is what shows up in the email:

When you click on it, it DOES contain a link that takes you to the website I want to send people to, but it doesn't display the beautiful image that I've created with the click link.

Is it a setting in mail that I need to enable? Any help would be appreciated

No expert here, merely someone else who has need to email image links...

I send image links in Mail by having the image stored in DropBox. One "Share" option in DropBox is to create a link that can be pasted into a Apple Mail message:

That option gives me a link I can paste into a Mail message. It also insure the recipient does not get a low-res version of the image as can happen when you insert an image into Mail and forget to use the "Actual size" option in Mail:

If the image is in iCloud Photos, you have the same "Share" option from within Apple Photos' file menu:

Give the Photos app/iCloud thing a try first. You may not need to set up a third-party online storage scheme if thatworks. I have to use DropBox for editorial work I do, so am simply more used to it.

Let us know how that works.
