reviewing a pages document somehow inadvertently the whole document disappeared and I cannot find it.

No one should be using Pages without a regular Time Machine backup every hour to an external drive. That is a safety net one can use to restore documents that have been deleted. Since you saved it in stages, that would have activated Pages autosave, and unless you accidentally deleted it, or forgot where it last saved, you should be able to find the document using Apple's Spotlight.

Click the 🔍 symbol in your right, Finder menu bar. That opens a Spotlight search window. Copy/Paste the following that looks for a Pages document last modified in a date range into the Spotlight field:

kind:pages modified:08/01/2025-8/28/2025

You should see a list of Pages documents shown in a Documents category beneath your Spotlight Search, provided the documents were saved on your local drive and not a remote cloud service.

If you see the document you seek, click once on its entry to highlight it. You can press the ⌘-key to see its location on the filesystem, or press ⌘R to open a Finder window with the document selected. You can press the space bar to display the document in Quick Look, or you can even press return to open the document in Pages again.
