Apple CarPlay no longer giving directions through Siri since recent update

Since 18.6.1 recent update on iPhone 16 Apple CarPlay no longer gives all directions through Siri. Must look at screen. Apple Watch alerts when needing to change direction. This is dangerous to have to look at the screen.
