Lost Safari bookmarks after latest update to Sequoia 15.6.1

On my Mac mini....After the last update to Sequoia...15.6.1 I found that most of my Safari bookmarks had vanished. Perhaps I am not synching them to iCloud as there are none there either. Is there a way to restore the bookmarks? I have other issues with this update but need to address this one first!
