How to fix screen flickering on MacBook Air M2?

I’m facing a persistent screen flickering issue on my MacBook Air M2 (16GB RAM) running the latest version of macOS. The flickering is subtle but noticeable, especially when brightness is set above 70%.

Some important observations:

• The flicker happens only on the built-in display.

• When I mirror/extend to an external monitor or TV, the flickering completely disappears.

• It becomes more noticeable on higher brightness levels.

• I’ve already tried the following:

• Booting in Safe Mode (issue still present).

• Resetting NVRAM/SMC.

• Disabling True Tone, Night Shift, and auto-brightness.

• Updating macOS to the latest version.

Since the issue is not present when using an external display, it feels more like a software/driver-related bug rather than hardware failure.

I wanted to ask:

• Is anyone else experiencing this on the MacBook Air M2?

• Could this be acknowledged as a macOS display bug, and will there be a fix in a future update?

are highly indicative of a hardware fault within the display assembly itself, especially the external monitor test. The external monitor test result you experienced generally eliminates the logic board as the source

Another test: With the display on, gently move the display assembly back and forth on its hinge while watching the screen. Do the artifacts change as you move the display? That often indicates that the fault lies in the display cable that connects the logic board to the display.

Not in the case of a hardware fault. However, we cannot speak for Apple's plans, and they do not respond here.

The good new is you don't need a logic board, but I won't sugar-coat this, The bad news is the display on that model is one sealed assembly whose components cannot be separately replaced. Even the cable.

If any component of the assembly fails, you need a complete new assembly. Unless you have AppleCare+ you are looknig at a repair in the rangs fo US$500-600.

It's not fixable at home, so make an appointment with Apple to have them evaluate the actual cause and cost. We are other end users here who can neither see nor remotely access your computer, so can only go with our own experiences and those of others who have participated here.

Sincerely hoping that I am horribly wrong about this, I remain,
