Apple TV 4K Not Auto-Switching to Dolby Vision

Hi everyone,

I recently upgraded my TV to the Sony A95L OLED and I’m running into an issue with my Apple TV not automatically switching to Dolby Vision.

Here’s my setup:

Sony A95L OLED TV

Sony STR-AZ3000ES Receiver

Apple TV 4K (latest gen)

Xbox Series X, PS5, and Panasonic UB820 player

All connected with certified AudioQuest HDMI 2.1 cables into the HDMI 2.1 inputs on the receiver, with eARC going to the TV.

Dolby Vision works fine on my Xbox, PS5, and Panasonic player.

On the Apple TV, if I manually force the video setting to Dolby Vision, it works flawlessly.

The problem is when I keep the Apple TV set to 4K SDR (with “Match Dynamic Range” enabled), it no longer automatically switches to Dolby Vision when playing DV content from Netflix, Disney or Amazon.

Has anyone else experienced this with the Apple TV? Is there a known issue that I’m not aware of?
