Finder windows won't open up
Finder stopped being able to open up new windows when clicking on it in the Dock. Thanks for any help that doesn't involve admin status as I'm on a work computer.

The default behavior is that clicking on the Finder icon in the Dock opens a new Finder window only if there are no Finder windows currently open. If there are windows open in Finder, the default behavior is to make those one of those windows active.
So, you can:
1) close all open Finder windows and click the Dock icon, or
2) secondary-click (two-finger / control-click) on the Finder icon in the Dock and select New Finder Window, or
3) Use the Command-N shortcut to open a new Finder window
