I don't need an indicator hovering under the cursor as I type with caps lock on, reminding me that caps lock is on - I can see it in the light on the key, lest I forgot about it the moment I pressed it - it's as distracting as it gets.

Why is this still a feature which you can't simply toggle off? Likewise input source suggestions - patronising much? The only way to get rid of this apparently is by tinkering with Terminal, but I don't feel like I should be reduced to that.
I don't know what defines 'either feedback or a feature request' here as 'not constructive', given that my post was removed twice, so this is the final attempt.
give me a break...I really appreciate the feature. To each their own, i am not about to get my knickers in a twist however.

—disable the caps lock altogether—
System Settings>Keyboard>Keyboard Shortcuts>Modifier Keys>Caps Lock Key>> Caps Lock> No Action
—Click on the caps lock symbol on screen will shut it off, the very next time you turn on caps lock ( to work in all caps) it will remain off for the duration until you hit caps lock again. This is how it works, for 1-cycle .

sudo defaults write /Library/Preferences/FeatureFlags/Domain/UIKit.plist redesigned_text_cursor -dict-add Enabled -bool NO
(note: your psswd will not echo on screen type it in any way, use the enter\return key to proceed.)
reboot is (or if ) necessary — I don't remember that detail...
