Will deleting an Iphone by ICloud stop an “Erase Upon Startup” command?

Hello all,

Long story short. My used IPhone 15 just purchased black screened the same day. It was fully transferred. I tried every option to start but ended up having to set up ICloud to “erase upon start” since the phone would not respond to Find My Phone. Now the company has the returned phone and they want me to “Delete Phone” on ICloud. If I delete the phone will it also stop the phone erase on startup? When they repair this phone I am afraid if the data is not erased I will lose my $600 because they won’t refund in that state. If it does cancel the erase how can I do both erase and delete? I do not trust this phone company and looking for another voice.
