Frequent password prompts instead of Touch ID on Mac mini M2 Pro macOS 15.6

When waking my Mac mini M2 pro it seems that in the last few weeks it is asking me to enter my password much more often than in the past. Has anyone else experienced this and is there a setting that would allow me to change the frequency of these requests?

There are a few instances where Touch ID will not be accepted by macOS:

• If you restarted your Mac, or if you're not logged into your user account.

• If you have not unlocked your Mac for 48 hours.

• If you are trying to unlock Security & Privacy

• If you are trying to unlock Users & Groups Settings (when FileVault is on)

• If 5 wrong fingerprint attempts
