Crop feature stopped working on my Photos app in iPhone 16 Pro

I'm not sure what you're expecting-- I know it doesn't work the way I expected. I've only used this a few times, and only on the Mac. In my experience so far, the only crop information that is copied is the aspect ratio. If I crop to 16x9 and zoom in, and then I copy that to another picture, I get 16x9 but without the zoom, and that's just a good start.

Here I have cropped a 4x3 picture to 16x9 and pulled it in to crop out the background. Then I copied the crop and pasted to a duplicate:

The result is 16x9, but not the same crop.

Is this what you're seeing? If so, it's just what it is, and that's how it's been.

It is like that for a while now and I don’t understand why it is not fixed. I have contacted apple support and they are saying it is normal so maybe it is why… they explain it copy paste the aspect ratio only but just the aspect ratio alone does not make sense to me.

So I think we can agree it is not a copy of a crop but a copy of an aspect ratio… and it does not care about any position or size, which is pretty useless in my opinion. They could have copy the aspect ratio AND the position of the crop. If they only past the aspect ratio then call it aspect ratio copy not a crop.

Any software like Lightroom, photo director, photomator and I am sure many others, a crop is an aspect ratio, a dimension AND a position.

Apple should fix this, it’s a very simple feature !!!!
