Apple Ultra 2 Watch Alarm Went Off But Could Not Be Turned Off

My Apple Ultra 2 watch timer went off but I had not started one. When the screen showed the timer panel, I was unable to turn the timer off with the X button. For grins, and to shut the tone off, I even tried to restart the timer. The watch would not respond to that key press either. Checked my phone and no timer was started there either. Finally had to shut the watch off but, even once the phone was off, the timer should continues for a few seconds. I had been working outside on a hot and humid day so I was pretty sweaty when I came in and the timer started sounding. Very weird. I am running watchOS 11.6.1. Anyone else seen this behavior?
