Issues with MacOSX after installing 15.6 (now 15.6.1)

Got a few issues after installing MacOSX 15.6:

  1. Safari Tabs not showing the X (close button) when hovering over the tab.
  2. When trying to manage windows and move windows between desktops, it is not allowing me to drag windows onto another desktop anymore. This is very annoying since I like to manage my windows and group certain things on each desktop.
  3. When playing on an Arcade app, mouse clicks seem to register somewhere else. I have to click on a button multiple times to get it to click, which eventually it does.

I don't know what else is there, but these are the only ones I have found so far ever since I installed 15.6. I have updated to 15.6.1 but that did not address some of these issues.

I have a Mac mini 2018 (Intel processor, i7) with an eGPU, 64GB memory. Every update before 15.6 has been good so far and I did not think a minor update would have issues such as these. Please fix.

Thanks for the responses.

I (think) I fixed my issue. It looks like it is mouse-related (mine is the Razer Pro Click mouse) and I also have an Apple Trackpad (as gestures only work with trackpad). I am pretty sure my issues were happening before regardless whether I use my mouse or my trackpad. But after I did a proper SMC reset for Mac mini by doing a shutdown+unplug, I noticed that my trackpad behaved correctly, highlighting menu items, etc, but my mouse did not. After I reconnected my mouse to the system (removed it first then re-added), it started behaving correctly as well. I know Razer does not have its own drivers for Mac, but it worked before the update, and it is now working as well after I re-added it to my Bluetooth devices. I think I would say, the SMC reset did something.

Thanks again!

A collection of real oddities here...

Have you shut down and restartd more than once since your update to 15.6.1 (?)

for Safari—Quit Safari.app and relaunch it holding the Shift key down and compare your results.

To trouble shoot further you can:

—A SafeBoot Start up your Mac in safe mode - Apple Support will sort many anomalies

Does a quick disk repair before it fully boots up, and certain system caches get cleared and rebuilt, third party system modifications and system accelerations are disabled temporarily.

Login and test. Reboot as normal and test. Caches get rebuilt automatically.

This test will tell you if third party interference; most extensions etc are not loaded in safe boot mode.

—Test issue in another user (or guest user) account Change Users & Groups settings on Mac - Apple Support

This will tell you if it a universal issue or isolated to your user/admin account.

***wireless keyboard with rechargeable batteries— connect the charging cable, this will make the wired keyboard successful Safe Boot your Mac.

unplug all non-essential peripherals when testing

Uninstall all third party apps that are Cleaners/Optimizers/VPN/Anti-Virus

all known to cause issues on the macOS

First of all, thanks for the reply.

I tried to get to do SafeBoot but I could not for some reason get my Mac to get into SafeBoot. The instructions seem very simple - hold Shift key right after the chime upon restarting. I have a wireless keyboard which can be switched to a wired one, but I also switched to a wired-only keyboard, but I could not get it to SafeBoot.

I was able to get it to Recovery Mode and tried re-installing MacOSX Sequoia. It did not fix the issue.

One other thing that I just noticed, the mouse hover does not seem to be registering correctly, which would explain #1 in my initial list of issues, and possibly #2 as well. When I open the menu (at the top-left) and move my mouse over each menu item, e.g. File, Edit, View, etc., the next menu options does not open, the menu options for the one I initially click on stays. When I click on the next menu item, it would close and I have to click again on the menu item to open its menu options. The menu options will also not highlight as I move my mouse over them. Clicking on them seems fine.

This issue with the mouse seems to be affecting everything. Same thing happens inside Safari; when I move the mouse over something that used to show some options upon hover, now nothing happens. Mouse cursor also seems to not change right away based on where the mouse pointer is. I have my dock set to hide and fortunately it shows up when I move my mouse to the bottom but App names don't show up when I move my mouse over each app.

I don't know why I cannot get to SafeBoot though. I tried resetting NVRAM and SMC too, but those did not do anything.

Hi everyone,

I wanted to share my experience in case it helps others.

I have an iMac running macOS 15.6 (build 24G84) and for several weeks I was seeing daily kernel panics. They almost always happened after waking from sleep.

The panic logs consistently showed:

userspace watchdog timeout: no successful checkins from remoted (2 induced crashes) in 180 seconds
service: remoted (2 induced crashes), last successful checkin: 180 seconds ago

This pointed to the remoted process, which handles Continuity features (Handoff, Universal Clipboard, Universal Control, etc.). I also saw repeated remoted crash logs in Console.

I tried troubleshooting (Bluetooth resets, plist cleanup, Console tracing), but the real fix came when I installed macOS 15.6.1 (build 24G90).

Since updating, it’s been several days with no crashes at all.

So if you’re seeing watchdog panics involving remoted on 15.6, I recommend updating to 15.6.1.

Hope this helps someone!

Interestingly I am also unable to boot in safe mode since updating.
