Getting rid of a mail folder permanently.

So months ago I made a new folder on my mail account. After a while I didnt need it. I emptied it and deleted it.Well it keeps coming back.I went to iCloud mail on line, tried to delete it, but it was grayed out.I cannot get rid of it at all.It looks like trash goes in there now, but just one more place to check e-mail with the tons of spam I get daily.

Wondering how you delete the folder, and whether Apple Support's online article for MacOS Sequoia can help:

(NB: Apple calls Mail Folders "Mailboxes"

Create or delete mailboxes in Mail on Mac - Apple Support

Eg: says:

"If you use the Finder to delete a mailbox, the change may not appear in Mail."

Also says:

"Delete mailboxes

WARNING: Deleting a mailbox permanently deletes the mailbox and its contents (including other mailboxes), and can’t be undone.

  1. Go to the Mail app  on your Mac.
  2. Select a mailbox in the Mail sidebar.
  3. Choose Mailbox > Delete Mailbox.
  4. If you have problems deleting a mailbox on the server for an IMAP account, contact the provider of your account.

When you delete a Smart Mailbox, the messages it displayed remain in their original locations."
