Custom labels in contacts no longer functional

I noticed this after the last update to 18.6.1 and reported it. Got all the mumbo jumbo about “go into contacts…then select this and select custom”. There you go all done….not so fast. Apple user since the Apple 2 and got into the iPhone immediately on introduction. So I’m not unfamiliar with the contacts app. However today I see that “you can still create a custom label….even one suggestion to use an older different iPhone for the editing! Well tell me that doesn’t reek of “Oops, I made a mistake”. Oh, by the way, that posting that was far from being answered and was just closed off. So if this actually gets read, I’ll be surprised. If an admission of “yes there was a bug in the update”…is stated That would be a miracle. And yes I’d settle for a miracle, but could you throw in a solution.

Interesting- I have to use the exchange service for University stuff but I maintain them separately. They used to work well together however the recent updates through my university has moved them further apart. So is it possible that exchange becomes a primary for some reason. I have an mail contact list and university contact list separated

Go to Settings/apps/contacts and see what the setting for Default Account is.
