Face ID not working after iOS 18.6.1 and 18.6.2 updates on iPhone 11

Troubleshoot here If Face ID isn't working on your iPhone or iPad Pro - Apple Support and here If an alert says Face ID has an issue on your iPhone or iPad Pro - Apple Support

If it doesn’t work, you might wanna reset Face ID, to do it, go to settings, Face ID and passcode, enter your passcode, then press reset face id (please note that if you have stolen device on, you will need to turn it off or you won’t be able to turn Face ID off), then you can re-create a Face ID. If that still doesn’t work, you will need to force restart your phone, to do it, press the volume up quickly and volume down quickly when you did the volume up, then hold the power button until you see the Apple logo (Note: do not stop holding if you see the power off or something). If that still doesn’t work, you might wanna contact Apple support…

I have exactly the same issue.

18.6.2 broke FaceId on my iPhone 16. First it stopped recognising me. Then when I reset faceID it was impossible to set up. It just didn't seem to recognise there was a face in the frame.

After a long-ish call with Support I was told it had to be repaired either by sending it in or taking it to a shop.

The nearest shop is 60 miles away and there is no guarantee they would not tell me they need to send it off.

The other option is a collect and return service which means up to 10 days without a phone.

My phone is less than 6 months old. It's not a great experience that Apple release an update with proper QA then put all the inconvenience of fixing their problem on me!

The same has happen to me on iPhone 12 For Apple to say needs repair when obvious it’s software update problem Has anyone got a workround or any idea when Apple will release update to rectify this problem

Just to give an update. Received the repaired phone back today. The repair note with it says they replaced the True Depth Camera.

So probably the version of the camera or associated chips were not compatible after that update.

I have an 11 as well & i don't have this face ID problem yet, hopefully i don't experience it anytime soon

This issues is coming up too much and they asking us to visit for repairs for Apple Store where I can’t even find one 😔😡

To get Apple support, go to app store, then type Apple support, then download the app with a Apple logo one and then sign in, then press get help then press message Apple or get called

iPhone 14 Pro and my screen started dimming out and wouldn’t lighten up and my Face ID stopped working requiring constant password typed. Annoying and some of my app icons keeps removing itself
