Search only the current Mailbox

If I put a value in the search box and hit enter, the search gets applied to All Mailboxes. This is rarely what I want. In fact, I'm far more likely to execute a number of searches on just one mailbox, the inbox, so the whole rigamarole of searching, and then refining is really irritating.

It is not *Simple*. How can this be fixed?
