How to resolve awning status mismatch in Apple Home app?

Hello,

I am experiencing an issue with the Apple Home app regarding the status indication of my awning.

I have a Vimar IoT awning switch integrated with Apple HomeKit. When the awning is physically closed (fully retracted), the Vimar app correctly shows the status as "Closed". However, in the Apple Home app, the same device appears as "Open".

This creates confusion, since the two apps show opposite states for the same device.

Could you please advise if there is a way to adjust or invert the status indication in the Home app, or if this is a known compatibility issue with the Vimar IoT switch?

Thank you in advance for your assistance.

Best regards,

Aris

Hello.

This is normal operation. Your awning is considered a roller shutter by Apple HomeKit. As such, when the awning is completely open, it covers your terrace as if your roller shutter covered your window. So when you say close the awning, it covers the terrace in real life.

I don’t understand why Apple hasn’t fixed that annoying issue.

I cannot use mine in HomeKit because when I say « close all the blinds » at night, it opens the awning.

Hopt that helps.
