can the sheets be distinguished in Numbers?

Numbers uses color to distinguish the currently active sheet from all the others. At least it does that, unlike the tabs in Safari where the currently open tab is "highlighted" as white while the other tabs are light-silver (nearly white) and it is difficult to tell them apart (especially in bright light).

I don't know of a way to colour the sheet tab. One suggestion is to edit the sheet name and add an emoji.
