I have recently moved between MacBook, iMac and Mac mini and have found the following error when trying to access and manage my external hard drives.
The operation can’t be completed because you don’t have the necessary permission.
I have looked at the previous answers from the community but all refer to 2022 and the OS is no longer the same.
I have approximately 3 external drives that does this..
Any help will be appreciated

Who is the owner and what is the group?
How is it formatted?
Do you use the same username for all of the Mac’s. If you didn’t create the users in the same sequence, they may have different user ID’s.
Do you need permissions on the drives? If not, set it to Ignore Ownership in Get Info.
Yes, I do. It does show that I have Read Write Priviledges,
I have unlocked the drive, tried to add another user, but everything else is faded out so does not allow me to change the drive.
I am the owner of the disk.
It was formatted as Windows NT
I have used a different user name on the MacBook previously.
Is the suggestion that I remove all the content and reformat?

macOS does not natively support writing to NTFS. You need third-party software to write to NTFS.
Or, format the drives for a Mac in Disk Utility.
