Hi. I have a 2019 Mac Pro with 8Tb SSD (2 x 4Tb), currently on the latest Sequoia, and would like to update to a 2023 model. If I buy the basic model with 1Tb SSD, can I transfer the 8Tb old SSD to the new M2 model? Are they the same spec?
I understand I will have to go through a few hoops with Apple Configurator etc., but should it be possible?

Yes.
You can install them in the same slots, but you will need to format and recreate the raid from scratch, and pair it to the T2 chip.

Yes, it should be. The 2023 Mac Pro has the same type of expansion slots x16 and x8 PCI-e for drives.
You can just slot them in and the Mac Pro should immediately see them as storage options.
Getting it to boot from them is another thing altogether.

No, the SSDs are not compatible. According to the second Apple article @Phil0124 linked, it says:

Thanks Phil, but I'm talking about swapping the the Apple system SSDs (pair), not PCIe storage.
Many thanks - I missed that point. Shame, and probably means I'll have to wait until budget allows.
