Siri not working with AirPods.

Question

Siri not working with AirPods.

I have seen this question asked before, but have not found a working solution yet.

I am getting no response when I say "Hey Siri" while wearing my AirPods. I can still talk to Siri if I hold down the side-button on the phone, so I know the microphone is still working.

I have already tried resetting the AirPods, restarting the phone, and switching Siri off and on in settings.

Device info: iPhone 15, iOS 18.5 - I think the AirPods are 2nd gen if I remember right.

Can you confirm that the AirPods are 2nd gen? See Identify your AirPods - Apple Support. If they actually turn out to be 1st gen that could explain it, as it only works on 2nd gen and newer.

I'd also make sure the AirPods firmware is up to date. See About firmware updates for AirPods - Apple Support.

If your iPhone is still on iOS 18.5, consider updating to 18.6.2, currently the latest version, and see if that makes a difference as well.

Yes, confirmed - Model A2031

And I have used Siri with these airpods many times in the past

Both the iPhone and AirPods are up to date.
