Apple 2019 Mac Pro 7,1 SSD upgrade kit, Not numbered

I bought a used Apple SSD upgrade kit (system pull), I'm starting the upgrade and I noticed that the two SSD's aren't numbered with 1 & 2. Apple is very specific about installing device #1 is slot 1 and device #2 in slot 2. How do I determine which is which? Can I just install them and the Apple configurator will tell me of they are reversed? Should I be concerned about install the wrong one in the wrong slot?

Finding Out Which Drive is in Which Hard Drive Bay:

macOS does not have a dedicated "hard drive bay" as a software feature. So, you'll have to view the capacity to determine which is which, by comparing the total storage capacity.

Verify the Connection:

Using System

  1. Hold Down: the Option key
  2. Click: the Apple menu
  3. Choose: System Information or System Report
  4. Expand: Hardware
  5. Select: Storage
  6. Look For: any internal or external drive
  7. View: the capacity of each drive.

Thank you for the photo.

Hard Drive Bays:

What you are encircling are indeed bays. Other than using System Information, Terminal is another option. Note that Macintosh HD is the default name for the macOS. So, if you

  1. Boot: in Revery Mode
  2. Go to: Utilities menu
  3. Select: Terminal
  4. Use this Command: diskutil list
  5. Look for the Drive: /dev/disk0 (internal, physical)

"Have you used the Apple Configurator and a Mac with a T2 chip, it requires a very specific process to upgrade the Apple SSD? The information that you are posting is not remotely related to my questions or a viable solution. But thanks for helping realized that I need to be more specific about complexity of the issue."

Rid of Profiles:

Thank you for clarifying this. Are you using any profiles? If so, remove them. Then, see if it seen as it should. You can add them back, if of no success.
